Check out this great article about Scott Brosius. Look where he is now, as he reflects on his career.
Was it really a full decade ago that Brosius, an obscure New York Yankees third baseman who had batted .203 just one season earlier with the Oakland A’s, placed himself among the ranks of October legends by belting two home runs in Game 3 of New York’s World Series sweep over San Diego (and thus sealing the MVP trophy)? Has it really been that long? “It has,” sighs Brosius. “It actually has.”
“I never wear the ring, but I don’t need to,” he says. “I was there for the moments.”
Scotty Brosius was one of my favorite Yankee players growing up. He was the type of scrappy player who went out there everyday and gave his best shot. He wasn’t a superstar, but got the job done and came up HUGE in clutch situations. He definitely left his mark while he was in pinstripes.

Derek defeats Tiger Woods in video boxing..
Jeter said he took Woods down in “FaceBreaker” video boxing.
“We were just playing a game which I beat him in a few times,” Jeter said. “We’ve got video, photos, all the proof.”
“It feels like it should be about the middle of November, so it’s been a little awkward,” said Jeter, who hasn’t been watching the World Series games between Philadelphia and Tampa Bay.
“I see highlights of them. If I’m not playing in it, I don’t really want to sit around and watch, but I’d be lying to you if I said I’m not interested in what’s going to happen.”

(Peter Abraham) The LoHud Yankees Blog – Cashman touches on offseason moves.
“I wouldn’t say other than the fact that I did talk to him,” Cashman said. “I’ll leave it at that. … He’s an employee of ours. The sensitivity of some of that stuff, I wouldn’t even get into. Not because of him, but for any of our employees. There’s a proper protocol. … He has our support and that’s defined in a number of different ways.”
“I can’t say I’m confident about anything. I wouldn’t represent what goes on in other people’s lives,” Cashman said. “He knows we care a great deal about him. He knows he’s got all the support from us that we can provide because we do care about him. I don’t know what goes on in anybody’s personal life. But he’s part of our family.”
Will Mike Mussina retire? “He’s never said that to me but he’s communicated enough to people around him or expressed it through (the media) that it was a strong possibility. He’s not made a decision either way that I’m aware of. He may have made one, though. Moving forward he’s not part of our rotation because he’s a free agent. We don’t have him signed. … I’m not counting on him right now. I don’t know if he’s even interested in playing any more.”
On the third-base coach situation: “It can come from within; it can come from outside the organization. (Manager Joe Girardi) and I have been talking a great deal about what direction we should go.” Cashman talked about the idea of moving Tony Pena or Rob Thomson to third and hiring somebody to fill their spots.”
Jorge Posada: “He’s doing the rehab on his shoulder. His throwing program commences the first week of December.” Is Posada their catcher? “Yes. The plan is for Jorge Posada to be our catcher.”
Chien-Ming Wang: The Wanger was in NYC today getting his right foot checked out and got a clean bill of health. He threw a bullpen in Tampa on Monday. “He’s doing terrific,” Cashman said. “He was fine. He had no pain, no problem.”
Free agents: Cashman talked in generalities about the Yankees needing starting pitching via trades or free agency. I tried to get him to say whether they would pick up the option on Damaso Marte. But he wasn’t biting.”
