These are rumors just like all of the others. I thought that this rumor would die off, but maybe the Yankees are really interested. Manny is one of the best hitters of all-time..no doubt about it. Are the Yankees willing to to take a chance and add a 36-year-old outfielder who may want up to 4 years? He has also shown that he will quit on a team whenever he feels like it. To keep Manny happy..they are going to have to give him a huge sum of money, and they will need to be a competitive team. If it is anything like last year, than I think he will be a complete disaster. Besides his play on the field..he also carries a lot of baggage and media attention. I hope the fans are ready for a cricus to come to town if he comes to the big apple.
TAMPA, Fla. — Manny Ramirez in pinstripes?
Hank Steinbrenner said the Yankees will explore all options during the offseason, including the possibility of making an offer to the free-agent slugger.
“There’s nothing we are not looking at,” Steinbrenner said Friday at the Yankees’ spring training complex. “And personally, I like Manny. He’s one of the greatest hitters in the history of the game. He’s a free spirit for sure, but he knows how to win. We like some of the other guys, too. We just don’t know yet.”
General manager Ned Colletti said Wednesday that re-signing Manny Ramirez “would be one of the Dodgers’ top three priorities this winter.”
However, Colletti has yet to meet face-to-face with agent Scott Boras and denied previous reports that he’s already offered Ramirez a new deal. “The organization has to do what’s best for the organization,” Colletti said. “I can’t put the major league club on hold for any one player.” Meanwhile, the New York Post reports that the Yankees “will make a serious push for” Ramirez “to play right field next year.”
