Hal Steinbrenner’s quotes from today’s Newsday:
“We’re going to do what we do every year, and that’s try to field a championship team. That’s not going to change. We know that we’ve got some weaknesses, and we’re going to fix the problems as best we can. If that means spending money, obviously that means spending money. The philosophy has not changed.
“Everything has a price. We understand free agency. We’re going to go after what we need, and if what we can do and what we’re willing to do is not enough, then it won’t be enough. But we’re going to pursue the market aggressively, as we do every year.”
Ken Davidoff covers the state of the Yankees and what free agent signings they might make.

After missing the playoffs this season..don’t you think the Yankees will do everything they possibly can to win the World Series next year? All you hear is that all these big time free agents are on the list, and how much they are going to spend this off-season. These just rumors? I don’t think so. I actually believe in what they say. This time around..the Yankees have fallen off the #1 spot in baseball, and they are trying to prove that they are the best of the best. The organization is embarassed that they missed the postseason, and it was even worse because it was int he last year of Yankee Stadium.
