This is just what I wanted to see happen. Many people didn’t like Marte early on because he struggled, but later on he settled down and pitched very well. He is left-handed pitcher, who is a strikeout machine. Those are hard to come by these days. The Yankees needed a lefty in the bullpen, so this was an important move. Marte and Phil Coke could be a dominant duo in the pen. The Yankees bullpen is pretty much set up for now, so all they need to do is work on the pitching staff and first base.

The Yankees have made their first move of the winter, re-signing Damaso Marte to a three-year, $12 million deal.
The Daily News reported last week that the two sides were getting close on a three-year contract, so this doesn’t come as much of a surprise. It matches the deal that J.C. Romero got from the Phillies last year, so the terms make sense.

Jonathan Albaladejo made his PRWL debut on Tuesday and pitched a scoreless inning.
Albaladejo never made it back last season after going down in May with a sprained elbow ligament. He’s been overtaken by several reliever on the depth chart, but he could be quite an asset in the middle of the Yankee pen if healthy next year.
