According to the NY Times, Andy Pettitte has rejected the NY Yankees $10M offer:
In some ways, Andy Pettitte is no different than the dozens of other free agents to start the new year without a team. Players all over baseball are waiting for better offers, and teams are searching for bargains.
But Pettitte is not like other players, and the Yankees are not like other teams. Pettitte has pledged his loyalty to the Yankees, and the Yankees have spent lavishly this winter at a time when many clubs are scaling back.
A reunion seemed inevitable at the start of the off-season, but now it is uncertain. Pettitte has rejected the Yankees’ one-year, $10 million offer, according to a person with knowledge of the negotiations, and there is no standing offer for now.
So does this mean it’s over for Andy? It certainly looks like it, but as Yogi would say..”It ain’t over till it’s over.” For all we know the Yankees could come back to him and make him a new offer. From the things Andy said early on in the off-season it seemed like he really wanted to return.

Damn Andy 10 mil aint too shabby, I like you a lot but take the f’in deal dude.
I think he’s nuts to turn down 10 MM but I rather see Hughes or another pitcher come in instead of him.

Truth is, not everybody can take a 37.5 percent paycut.
Especially when you have four kids’ college fund to think about in this unrelenting tide of economic recession.
And don’t forget Andy gave this team 14 wins this season.
