With the addition of Mark Teixeira we all knew that Giambi wouldn’t be returning in ’09. The question is where he would go. According to a source, Oakland might sign Giambi to a one-year deal (w/ apossible option) by the end of the week.

Red Sox signed infielder Nick Green to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Fantasy Spin: Green was a bust last year for the Yankees’ Triple-A club, hitting .212/.267/.317 in 208 at-bats. He’s a career .240/.309/.347 hitter in 703 at-bats as a major leaguer. He’ll be playing for Pawtucket when the season starts.
