Yesterday, the Yankees reached deals with outfielders Xavier Nady and Melky Cabrera to avoid salary arbitration. Nady’s contract is a one-year, $6.55 million deal. Melky Cabrera signed a one-year deal worth $1.4 million. The only one left who is eligible for arbitration is Brian Bruney. He made $725,000 last year, and he asked the Yankees for $1.55 million for this upcoming season. The Yankees countered with an offer of $1.1 million. Bruney’s deal has not been settled yet, so we need to wait and see what happens with that. If they can’t reach a deal, then they might need to go to the hearings on February 1st-21st.
