And in 140 words or fewer (much fewer in this case), Mark Feinsand informs us that Chien-Ming Wang will have surgery tomorrow, and is out for the remainder of the season.
This is not the big news it once would have been, as Wang turned in a historically poor season this year and has flitted on to and off of the DL several times. It isn’t clear what is to come for the Taiwanese RHP, but earlier this week Peter Abraham suggested that the Yankees could go so far as to non tender him in the offseason, as it is unlikely that he would be able to contribute before hitting free agency following 2010.
For now, we can hope that isn’t the case. But if it is, so long, CMW, and thanks for all the memories.
