Jesus Montero fractured the middle finger on his right hand in a game last night. Brian Cashman has stated that he will be out 4-6 weeks. He will miss the remainder of the minor-league season.
According to RAB, Montero left the game in the middle of the third ining after being crossed up and getting hit on the hand with a pitch.
Montero was having a terrific season. With both Tampa and Trenton, he combines for these numbers: .337AVG 45R 17HR 70RBI .389OBP .562SLG .951OPS.
This is definitely not the news you would like to hear, but it could have been worse.
