How can anyone already claim that the Red Sox are the team of the decade when the playoffs haven’t even started? What if the Yankees win it all this year? Huh? I would say that Boston is definitely in the lead as of now, but things can change.
Red Sox Resume: Have been in the postseason six times this decade. (including this year) They have played in four ALCS and two World Series, winning them both.
Yankees Resume: Have been to the postseason nine times, played in five ALCS and three World Series, winning one of them
The question is…what if the Yankees win it all this year? That would give the Yankees four World Series appearances, winning two of them. I think that would put the Bronx Bombers in the lead.
The Sporting News All-Decade Team has these Yanks/Sox on it’s list:SS Derek Jeter, 3B Alex Rodriguez, OF Manny Ramirez, DH David Ortiz, RP Mariano Rivera
Joe Torre was named the top manager of the decade, while Theo Epstein was named the top executive.
We will have to see how things unfold this October…
