Alex Rodriguez’s hip doctor, Dr. Marc Philippon, gave him a check-up before Game 2 of the ALDS. Philippon sees big improvements in his hip, and thinks that his hip is almost back to (about 95%) 100 percent. All signs are starting to point to the idea that he won’t have to have a second surgery in the off-season. His doctor even thinks that he will be fully recovered by Spring Training 2010.
“His power is excellent. And his rotation and his hip is excellent,” said Dr. Marc Philippon, who performed A-Rod’s hip surgery in March. “And for us clinically, we can’t be more pleased.”
“At this point in time, based on my clinical exam and what I saw in batting practice, I need [to do] a little more tests,” Philippon said. “But so far, I don’t think he will need surgery.”
