Joe Girardi confirmed that C.C. Sabathia will start the fourth game of the ALCS on Tuesday night. I really like this move. There is no way that you should take any chances in this series. Why send out Gaudin when you can have you ace on the mound? CC has already proven that he is very capable of pitching on three days rest, so it makes sense.
Sabathia will be matched up against Scott Kazmir in Game 4. Should be a good one.
“We wanted to make sure he felt fine, and he did great,” Girardi said. “We’re comfortable with him going on short rest. He’s had success going on short rest. If you look at last year’s numbers, we’re comfortable doing it. He feels good, and we’re going right to CC.”
