
For a year chock full of awards for the Yankees, three members of the 2009 team will accumulate more awards now. Derek Jeter, Johnny ‘$how me the money’ Damon, and Mariano Rivera are all in line to receive MLB.com’s This Year in Baseball awards.
Fans voted in droves this year as more than 12 million fans casted their votes in a variety of categories. Now that the results are in, the players will receive their awards on the field in 2010.
Derek Jeter will receive the Moment of the Year award for surpassing Lou Gehrig as all time Yankees hit leader.
Johnny Damon will receive Postseason the Moment of the Year award for stealing two bases on one play in World Series Game 4.
Mariano Rivera will receive the Closer of the Year award.
