The New York Yankees scored big this holiday season, as they were rated No. 1 in eBay’s annual “top-shopped” roundup of pop-culture-related items of 2009. The New Stadium, new FA players, and the recent World Series championship all contributed to that. There were 551,230 items related to the Yankees sold this past year. There was 523,429 items related to the “Twilight” books and movies, which took second place on eBay’s list. I’m guessing that the World Series championship put the Yankees over the top.
Rounding out the top 5: Michael Jackson (448,885 items) came in third place, Ed Hardy (411,256 items) fourth, and President Obama (312,980 items) fifth.
“If you want to know what Americans are most fascinated by, all you have to do is look to eBay,” Karen Bard, eBay’s pop-culture expert, said.
