A few hours ago, Jon Heyman posted on his Twitter that he has heard that the Blue Jays have interest in Jesus Montero, which makes me cringe slightly considering the high upside that Montero. So far, Montero’s career Minor League numbers are: .325 BA, 37 HR’s and 176 RBI’s over 257 career games. However, there are reports that indicate Montero’s defense leaves a lot to be desired.
It also is well known that the Blue Jays want a MLB ready arm to go along with a position player in turn for Roy Halladay that they will be able to control for a number of years. Which, if you have been living underneath a rock likely means either Joba or Phil. So, if the Yankees would really like to get into the hunt for Halladay, it’s likely a package of Montero/Phil or Joba would be a jumping off point. Considering Montero’s upside, a package like that just might be what it takes, possibly.
Not too long after the Yankees signed Jesus Montero, they drafted Austin Romine who has been hitting Minor League pitching to a tune of .288 BA, 23 HRs, and 122 RBIs. On top of his numbers, Romine is regarded as being a better defensive catcher than Montero is. Now, if the Yankees were really looking into the previously mentioned package, Romine would likely be groomed as Posada’s successor. However, there are some individuals that believe that Romine will not develop as well as others think and his potential ceiling would be that of a backup catcher.
While I have stated my feelings on this subject previously, I think the Yankees should seriously see if all it would take is Montero/Joba or Phil to acquire Halladay. All things considered, I’m not sure the Yankees need to basically bring up a future DH (Montero) especially if they have Romine who could possibly be better defensively than the options presented in front of them at this moment. With the winter meetings a mere 10 days away, this is highly unlikely going to be the last time we here about this subject, so stick close and we’ll let you know what happens

They can like him all they want, but they’re not getting him. And more and more scouts are now seeing that Montero will be able to catch.
Why give up so much for Halliday when they can get Lackey for free, by Yankee standards of spending?
I hate to trade Montero but you cant let the Sox have Beckett, Halliday, and Lester. Thats far and away better than CC, Burnett, and Lackey.
Hey sexy blog lol if i site could be named sexy. Did you design it yourself?
