Here is a look at the AL East standings as of 7/28/09. The Yankees sit atop the East with a 2.5 game lead on the Boston Red Sox. I wouldn’t be too worried about the Rays, as they’re 7.5GB right now. You can already count out Toronto and Baltimore as they aren’t serious contenders. The Blue Jays will certainly be finished if they get rid of Doc Halladay before the deadline. There are 63 games left in the season, so there are plenty of games to be played. It should be a great race to the finish.
