Joe Girardi just announced that AJ Burnett will take the hill in Game 5 of the World Series. So, regardless of the situation..it looks like that will happen.
That takes out all talks of Chad Gaudin starting tomorrow night’s game. Some are worried that this isn’t a good idea because Burnett hasn’t really been tested on short rest. Also, many fans feel that if the Yanks go up 3-1 in the series with a win tonight, that it wouldn’t be a good idea to have Burnett face off against Cliff Lee on the road.
I happen to be of the minority, in that I want the best three out there all of the time, and I don’t want to take any chance of giving away a game with Chad Gaudin on the hill. The man hasn’t made a start in forever, and he has pitched one inning in the last month. I guess Andy Pettitte will go in Game 6 and CC in Game 7 if necessary.
