According to George A. King III from the New York Post, Bowa is the leading candidate to fill the Yankees need for a 3rd base coach. I would love it if he returned to the Yankees. I really liked his enthusiasm and how he pushed Cano. I think it would be a great move. Cano hasn’t been the same without him. Since the Dodgers season is over, I guess they can go after him.
From the New York Post:
Larry Bowa is the leading candidate to replace hird base coach Bobby Meacham.
The Yankees are willing to wait until after the Dodgers’ season ends to see if Bowa, who was the Yankees’ third base coach in 2006 and 2007 and is considered the best in baseball, wants to return.
Bowa signed a two-year deal with the Dodgers before this season to join Joe Torre in Los Angeles but has an out in the contract. Until the Dodgers’ season is finished the Yankees can’t contact Bowa or ask the Dodgers permission to speak with him.
“The field is open,” said general manager Brian Cashman, who with assistant general manager Jean Afterman and head of pro scouting Billy Eppler left for Tampa yesterday. The Yankees’ organizational meetings start today and will go through Friday. “We could go within or outside. We are putting together a list of candidates.”
